Aims and purpose:
The Charity can assist throughout Lancashire although Preston District has special priority, and it has wide powers at the discretion of the Trustees to relieve need, hardship and distress amongst the under 25's, including making grants for books, equipment or appropriate training and education where depravation exists.
The Charity can also provide facilities for recreation or other leisure time occupation in the interests of social welfare, but it is not authorised to apply to income in relief of rates, taxes or other public funds.
Who can apply:
Both individuals and charitable groups working for the benefit of under 25's are eligible for assistance.

A new charitable scheme was established in 1985 following the sale of the Harris Orphanage premises in Garstang Road, Preston to the Lancashire Polytechnic for use as Student Accommodation. The original Charity known as the Harris Orphanage Charity dates back to 1883.
The Trustees consider this to be a well-founded and worthwhile local Charity and as such they welcome donations, covenants, legacies etc. to increase the effectiveness of the endowment. These can be sent to The Secretary at the registered address:
