This  charity aims to relieve either generally or individually persons resident in the Borough of Preston who are in conditions of need, hardship or distress by making grants of money or providing or paying for items, services or calculated to reduce the need, hardship or distress of such persons.

Gift 92

This is an independent charity originally set up with the financial backing of the Harris Trust to provide practical support for local people in need.

Gift 92 provides good quality second hand furniture and household goods to people in need following referral by local agencies. By supplying essential furniture and household items Gift 92  helps individuals and families in empty properties to set up a home.

Every year Gift 92 supports around 500 financially struggling families and individuals referred to it

The Edward Dixon Award for Young Volunteers

This award (£50 and  shield)  is presented annually  by the Lancashire Youth Association in memory of Edward Dixon (former Trustee of the Harris Charity.)  It is presented to an outstanding young person who is involved in volunteering work in the County.
